“Chief” features an emerging tusker in Tsavo East National Park where a thriving population of 13,000 elephants enjoys the protection of this unwieldy expanse of land. An emerging tusker, however, is an elephant who is expected to grow up to join an exclusive group of what is largely considered to be royalty among all elephants in Kenya: a super tusker. There are only 33 of these emerging bulls out of the entire elephant population of Tsavo.

This bold young bull is a symbol of hope, representing a future for super tusk elephants where they can live without fear and thrive in the African bush on their own terms. Stoic yet emotionally aware and giant yet epically silent, super tuskers are pillars of the animal kingdom and intelligent beyond belief. This emerging tusker is the exciting and hopeful future of his kind.
